Many refugees live in the San Francisco Bay Area, but not many people know the journey that refugees, asylum seekers, and people fleeing violence in their home countries take to seek a safe home.
A traveling interactive exhibit, Forced From Home, coming to Oakland’s Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center parking lot (east side) October 30 through November 5, will give local residents a simulated guided experience to better understand the journey people escaping horrific conditions in their home countries undertake.

Can you name the largest city in the Caribbean? It’s not San Juan, Havana, or Kingston. It’s an often-overlooked municipality in an often-overlooked country: Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic.
Many visitors skip right over this city of 1.5 million and fly into Punta Cana, which is the gateway to the country’s eastern resorts. This is a shame, because while the city can be a little challenging (starched and pressed Nassau, it is not), Santo Domingo offers some of the best dining, nightlife, and sightseeing in the West Indies.

San Francisco is the next stop on the ice cream trail for the immensely popular pop-up Museum of Ice Cream organizers announced Tuesday.
The museum will set up its famed sprinkle pool, banana room, at 1 Grant Avenue in the former Emporio Armani boutique in Union Square, according to media reports.

Hot, Joz ve Loz is, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from the women behind this destination restaurant, especially in its new location. The restaurant moved to the Florentin, an artsy and edgy emerging neighborhood in the southern part of Tel Aviv, March 2015.
It is well worth the adventure journeying away from the action of Tel Aviv’s fashionable northern neighborhoods to dine at Joz ve Loz.

A woman got a bit too close to an exhibit of crowns displayed closely together on pedestals of varying heights while taking a selfie and lost her balance causing the crowns to tumble in a domino effect. The cost of the damage? $200,000.
