Khyber Pass Dishes Up Rockin’ Afghan Cuisine

When my friend suggested Khyber Pass Kabob Restaurant (7467 Village Parkway, #9; 925-828-6000; KhyberPassKabob.com) and told me that it was a five-star restaurant on a popular review website located in a strip mall in Dublin, California I was definitely on high alert. Babes however stayed silent and went with it in a highly unusual fashion for her. She even smiled with optimism when we stepped through the doors of Khyber Pass and were clearly in a whole other world.

Okay, maybe it’s never happened to you. It’s never happened to me, either. But it could: over 1.4 million snowmobiles (“sleds,” to those in the know) are registered in this country, and the numbers are growing. Women are ‘Born to be Wild’

In August, when the Highway Runaways roared into San Francisco on their Harley’s from Brooklyn, I suddenly started to think about Scarlett, our Ninja 500R Kawasaki, in the garage and hitting the road down the coast or up to wine country with Super G as her “back seat Betty.”

Pom Pom Girl: Orlando’s Greatest (and Edgiest) Cheerleader

One day last year, a man in Seattle took delivery of 20 turkey sandwiches. What’s so remarkable about that? Well, they weren’t delivered by a college student in a beat-up car. They came via FedEx overnight delivery. And they weren’t made in the Emerald City. They came from a sandwich shop in Orlando, Florida.

Willard Hicks Refashions the Steakhouse and New American Cuisine

There must be crack or something going on in the kitchen at Willard Hicks (280 East Campbell Avenue; 408-374-5000; WillardHicksGrill.com) in Campbell, Calif., that the chef is putting into the food, that’s all I gotta say.

Since my first experience right after they opened several months ago my friends and I have been going back over and over again and dragging our friends and partners with us. We can’t get enough of what they call “New American Fare,” which is a twist on favorite American comfort foods with Southwest and Southern influence. It doesn’t matter, the shit is good, I mean extraordinarily good.
