Reunion Island launched a new eco-tourism tour that focuses on the benefits of the island’s coral reef.
Reunion Island is located in the Indian Ocean off of Madagascar. An overseas department of France, the small tropical island is the home to 800,000 French speaking residents and offers guests rich leisure and nature activities offered on the west side of the island.
The tour is a new addition to what the island offers.
The day tour begins with a traditional breakfast of a Creole meal cooked over a wood fire with a tasting of fresh country juices. A guide will take guests along the coast while sharing the secrets of the reef and the island of Reunion along the coast from Cape la Houssaye at the Hermitage lagoon. Throughout the day guest will meet with officers of the Marine Nature Reserve and enjoy a lecture at the Aquarium of La Reunion as a part of the guided tour, according to the July 15 news release from the island’s tourism bureau.
