Two Women And One Man Announced To Take CPG’s Hotels Into The Future

by Heather Cassell

It’s clear that Chef Charlie Palmer isn’t afraid of strong women. He’s selected two women to lead the Charlie Palmer Group’s burgeoning hotel arm of his company into the future.

Independent hotel marketing and sales expert Tamara DeMars and international revenue management and distribution expert Parul Suri will lead the group’s new marketing and sales initiatives at the Harvest Inn and Mystic Hotel, both by hotelier, restauranteur and chef Charlie Palmer, according to the January 17 news release from the group.

Parul brings an international and multi-concept dynamic to her new role at the group coming from an international background working at some of the world’s best-known hotel and resort brands. Tamara comes from an independent hotel background.

Parul and Tamara are joined by James DeLuca, the new general manager at the Harvest Inn.

The three hospitality leaders are starting at the same time to spearhead a robust plan to enhance the guest experience and increase business volume, American depositary receipt, and group sales at both hotels, according to the release.

Born in New Delhi, India, Parul worked her way up in the hotel industry starting in revenue management for the Taj Hotels, Resorts, and Palaces to director of revenue management for Hyatt Hotels Corporation in the San Francisco Bay Area where she oversaw a $70 million property renovation and complete reposition of the hotel chain’s San Francisco hotel, according to her biography.

She balances hotel revenue management, distribution, inventory optimization and sales and marketing collaboration with a scientific, yet refined, approach, according to the release.

The San Francisco resident developed her international experience at Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts working in the Asia, Middle East, and Africa region before moving to the Americas. During her tenure at IHG Americas, Parul was responsible for a portfolio of hotels along with business development for the West region.

Parul earned her business degree from the Infinity Business School, one of India’s top business schools. She is an avid reader and runner. She spends time traveling with her family and lives in the city with her husband and dog.

Tamara comes to the group following a successful career expertly executing sales and marketing plans. She has a reputation for building strong teams and sustainable revenues at other Napa Valley hotels, such as Bardessono Hotel and Spa and Silverado Resort and Spa, and Santa Barbara’s San Ysidro Ranch.

Tamara has vast wine knowledge and an Advanced Wine Certification and also managed sales at a Napa Valley Vineyard when she first arrived in California’s premier wine region.

Before joining the new team overseeing the two Northern California hotels, Tamara raised the profile and revenue of Bardessono, an eco-friendly luxury hotel in Yountville, for nearly two years.

Time and time again for more than a decade, Tamara demonstrated a command of high-performance sales and marketing strategies for independently-owned luxury hotels, the group noted in the release.

Tamara hasn’t wasted time getting into her new role. She has already built a talented sales and marketing team to help her carry out her vision for the group’s brand.

Born and raised in Colorado, Tamara earned her degree in marketing and her master’s in design and merchandising from Colorado State University. She lives in downtown Napa and is an avid gardener and reader. Tamara also has a private pilot license, according to her biography.

“I feel incredibly fortunate that we’ve attracted such great hoteliers and field leaders to be a part of our burgeoning hotel group,” said Chef Charlie Palmer, who owns 17 restaurants in major cities across the United States and three hotels all in Northern California. “With these folks at the helm, coupled with the existing infrastructure of our hotel and CPG teams, the opportunities are endless.”
