by Heather Cassell
St. Lucia’s The Harbor Club continues to raise its profile with the appointment of Maxine “Max” Jemison as director of sales and marketing of the luxury Caribbean resort.
The resort announced Maxine’s appointment September 11 in a news release on Wednesday.
Max is a part of a new executive team at the resort hand-picked by the hotel’s new Managing Director Lester Scott.
“Max is a rockstar when it comes to hotel sales and marketing,” Lester praised Max in the release. “Her ingenuity has been recognized and rewarded in her past roles and she has the training and expertise that makes her an invaluable asset to our team.”
Max was the director of national accounts at Nobu Eden Roc in Miami Beach before joining The Harbor Club. She’s bringing a strong background in hospitality with extensive experience in sales and marketing as well as business development and event planning to The Harbor Club. Previously, she’s held positions at Marriott, Starwood, and Hilton.
Max will be responsible for managing the sales team with a focus on developing partnerships with corporate accounts, executing meetings and events, and coordinating destination weddings for The Harbor Club, according to the resort’s release.
Executive Chef Johann Friedrich “Fritz” Zwahlen’s appointment was also announced on Wednesday. The sought-after chef’s goal will be to make the resort a culinary destination with its five world-class restaurants and on-site catering for events.
Located in St. Lucia, one of the island nations in the West Indies in the Caribbean and North Atlantic Ocean, The Harbor Club is located on Rodney Bay, a popular resort destination featuring white-sand beaches and a marina with yacht docks and shopping on the northwestern coast of the island in the Gros Islet.
The resort features 115 rooms and suites, eight of which are swim-up and some feature private patios over the pool area, designed to bring the maritime setting indoors with its nautical-inspired design. In addition to the resort’s luxurious rooms and five world-class restaurants, it also features a spa, sprawling event space for meetings and conventions as well as weddings and parties, and complimentary shuttle service via a speed boat to a beach on Pigeon Island Nature Preserve.
The Harbor Club is owned by Canadian-Jamaican investor Wes Hall who joined then owner and developer Daniel Buechler in 2017 to renovate the 4-star luxury resort.
The Harbor Club reopened in early 2018 and is a part of Hilton’s Curio Collection.
