Khyber Pass Dishes Up Rockin’ Afghan Cuisine

When my friend suggested Khyber Pass Kabob Restaurant (7467 Village Parkway, #9; 925-828-6000; KhyberPassKabob.com) and told me that it was a five-star restaurant on a popular review website located in a strip mall in Dublin, California I was definitely on high alert. So was Babes, who shares my feelings about restaurants and strip malls.

Pom Pom Girl: Orlandoā€™s Greatest (and Edgiest) Cheerleader

One day last year, a man in Seattle took delivery of 20 turkey sandwiches. Whatā€™s so remarkable about that? Well, they werenā€™t delivered by a college student in a beat-up car. They came via FedEx overnight delivery. And they werenā€™t made in the Emerald City. They came from a sandwich shop in Orlando, Florida.

Willard Hicks Refashions the Steakhouse and New American Cuisine

There must be crack or something going on in the kitchen at Willard Hicks (280 East Campbell Avenue; 408-374-5000; WillardHicksGrill.com) in Campbell, Calif., that the chef is putting into the food, thatā€™s all I gotta say.

Since my first experience right after they opened several months ago my friends and I have been going back over and over again and dragging our friends and partners with us. We canā€™t get enough of what they call ā€œNew American Fare,ā€ which is a twist on favorite American comfort foods with Southwest and Southern influence. It doesnā€™t matter, the shit is good, I mean extraordinarily good.

Maui’s Lavender Fields at Aliā€™i Kula Lavender Farm

It was a wonderful unexpected surprise when my girlfriend and I accidentally discovered the Aliā€™i Kula Lavender Farm on Maui.

We arrived early at O’o Farm for our hands-on-farm experience picking the food that would be prepared into a gourmet lunch by the farmā€™s chef. Since we were early, the women on the phone suggested that Super G and I visit Aliā€™i Kula Lavender Farm (1100 Waipoli Road, Kula; 808-878-3004; AliiKulaLavender.com) which is right around the bend from O’o Farm.
