Have It All: Work And Play In The Heart Of Atlanta At The Omni Atlanta Hotel At The CNN Center
by Heather Cassell
Guests staying at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center are in the heart of everything in Atlanta, Georgia including breaking news.
The Four Diamond Omni is located right at CNN, the cable news channel’s headquarters, directly off of Centennial Olympic Park. If you want entertainment, this is where you need to be.
The park is (home to the World of Coca-Cola, The College Football Hall of Fame, The Georgia Aquarium, The Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum, the State Farm Arena (home of the Atlanta Hawks basketball team), and Mercedes-Benz Stadium (home of the Atlanta Falcons football team).
The luxury hotel is also only steps away from great dining and shopping in downtown Atlanta.
One of my only qualms was that the hotel isn’t necessarily up-to-date with what is happening to guide guests on what to do during their stay in Atlanta. The activities guide in my room was outdated listing events, restaurant openings, and other suggested activities for the three previous months to when I stayed last April.
Fortunately, I had my own itinerary to follow, but it was still slightly annoying to not be able to casually browse what was new in Atlanta.
The Room
My room was spacious with a king size bed, desk and sitting area filled with leather furniture and tasteful artwork.
The bed was one of the most comfortable that I’ve slept in and was welcomed after flying across the country and a long dinner at the historic Paschal’s, which is well-known for its southern dishes.
There was some wear on the wood furniture with scratches, rubs, and bumps, but not so much that it was apparent that the hotel was way overdue for a renovation.
The tub in the bathroom showed more usage being chipped and stained, but overall the room was very comfortable and modern with many places to plug in electronics either directly into the wall and with USB ports built into the lamps and furniture.
After getting some work done, I was able to block out the lights of the city closing the blackout curtains and drapes for a good night’s sleep.
Dining
The Omni offers guests three dining options serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a lounge in the lobby for a happy hour and late-night cocktails, however, guests should consider going beyond the boundaries of the urban resort. Being in the heart of everything means that the resort is surrounded by a plethora of dining options at a variety of price points from a sports bar, Park Bar to fine dining at White Oak Kitchen and Cocktails all within walking distance.
Wellbeing
Swim like an Olympian gliding through the water in the Olympic pool or simply bask in the southern sun on the outside deck. Once you’re done soaking in those rays, book a spa appointment across from the pool.
The Serenity Spa offers a variety of services to help guests relax after a busy day in Atlanta from massages and facials to salon services.
It’s all about the vacation or business trip unless you feel the urge to fit your daily fitness routine during your travels. You won’t be disappointed by this gym that at first glance it appears small, but then you realize that it stretches for quite some distance as you walk the mile to where you believed the wall was. It’s an illusion among the high-tech treadmills and other fitness equipment making the room appear more intimate not giving away how much space there actually is the work-up a sweat.

VIBE: Sprawling hotel in two towers [verify] that is more adult and business than family oriented.
SCENE: Professional casual atmosphere with a subdued seriousness that people are there for business and not pleasure.
LOCATION: Great location next to museums, the aquarium, and other tourist attractions as well as downtown Atlanta. The Marta, the local subway, is a couple of blocks away and easy to use to get around the city.
ROOM: The room was comfortable and a little worn but with a great bed and blackout curtains that get the room dark providing a great night’s sleep to prepare for the next day.
BATHROOM: Decent size with good water pressure and water that quickly heated up, but it needed some tender loving care due to the chips and scratches in the tile and porcelain.
AMENITIES: The room comes with flat screen TVs, cable, a desk, plenty of ways to power your electronics, good quality towels and toiletries in the room. Beyond the room, the gym and pool are state-of-the-art accompanied by a good spa, plenty of dining options onsite, and a great location with activities feet away from the doorstep of the urban resort.
SERVICE: Hotel staff was helpful and courteous.
