Girls That Roam is a startup travel Web site for and by women being built by the sweat and vision of women. We are seeking interns who need work experience in exchange for school credit and may be a little stipend, if we can afford it.

News Briefs and Blog Posts
Search, pitch and write travel news briefs, tips, reviews, and blog posts.
Art and Pictures
Photographers: Accept travel photo assignments for destinations and products. Assist with finding stock photos and gather media photos to accompany articles.
Artists: Assist Illustrator with creating Girls That Roam specific illustrations.
Marketing
Assist with marketing from Girls That Roam’s community to FaceBook, Twitter, and other social networking sites to participating in travel forums and communities posting comments representing Girls That Roam.
Assist with drafting and sending out press releases and creating press lists for new media, broadcast and print outlets.
Researching and gathering information for potential articles, advertisers, sponsors, press contacts and partners and just links we would love to post.
Advertising
Researching and gathering information for potential advertisers, and sponsors.
Assisting our advertising mistress with selling ad space on Girls That Roam.
Every position might have not so thrilling and exciting tasks as assigned.
Girls That Roam internships are initially unpaid, but earn college credit and work experience. Small stipends might occasionally be available depending on the health of the business.
Work Conditions
This is a web-based position that can be done from anywhere in the world from a dorm room in Ireland to a computer in a bedroom in India all it requires having access to reliable broadband Internet service, a computer, and have an e-mail address. It also requires the ability to sit in front of a computer for a couple of hours at a time.
This position requires the ability to be self-directed and motivated to complete tasks with little supervision.
Time
This internship requires a commitment between 10 – 20 hours a week depending on the position. The hours are flexible as long as deadlines are met and you can commit to weekly meetings conducted via webconferencing.
Hopefully you already have gotten to know us by reading Girls That Roam. If you are still interested in interning with us ">send us your stuff (i.e. cover letter, resume, writing samples, photos, and anything you feel might be pertinent that we should know. We will do our best to get back to you within two weeks, but if you don’t hear from us drop us a line we might have gotten overwhelmed and busy or your application might have gotten lost somewhere in cyberspace and we never received it. If you aren’t selected for the position, we will attempt to give everyone some helpful criticism and tips.
