1. Farmhouse Inn
Unassuming and quaint from the outside, this Sonoma Valley, California hotel is extremely luxurious. Retaining an elegant charm, the rooms are upscale and rustic with wooden paneling accented by occasional stone features, fireplaces, and leather furniture. Outside of the bedroom, the Farmhouse Inn has everything necessary for a romantic escape, fine-dining, a spa, and lots of wine. Built into a restored old plantation house originally constructed in the 1770s, The Inn’s modern comforts incorporate themselves seamlessly into the building’s old school Southern charm. Outside, rolling fields retreat into lush forest. The potential for romance is evident in the booking options here, as many people come to Willow Grove for the Honeymoon Package. 3. Inn at Discovery Coast
Our pick for the best Washington state romantic hotel is the Inn at Discovery Coast on the shores of Long Beach, about a three-hour drive southwest of Seattle. The designers of this hotel certainly had romance in mind as depending on the room, couples can enjoy ocean views, in-room Jacuzzis, and two-person walk-in showers. Those who are able to leave the comforts of their room behind can take seemingly endless walks on the beach, make use of the hotel’s complimentary bikes, go to the spa or enjoy the Pickled Fish restaurant which hosts live music on many nights.
4. Hotel Le Mars
Another hotel nestled amongst the California wine region is the Hotel Le Mars. Located about an hour outside of San Francisco, a couple can get their romantic weekend started off right with a drive across the city’s famous Golden Gate Bridge with views of the Pacific Ocean and the Marine Headlands on one side and San Francisco and the bay on the other side. 5. Twin Farms
Calling the Vermont backcountry home, Twin Farms is absolutely stunning. With abundant views of wooded land, the tranquility of the hotel’s surroundings quickly fills all couples that visit with bliss. The hotel has many romantic activities perfect for partners looking to get out of their room, including a couple’s massages, hiking, canoeing on the pond, picnics, and even sleds in the winter.
6. Rosewood CordeValle
Centrally located in California amongst the hills between San Jose and Santa Cruz’s southern borders, Rosewood CordeValle has 1,700 acres all to itself. In all this space, guests can take advantage of the resort’s personal golf course, pool, spa, wine tastings, and multiple restaurants. Romance is sure to peak just before sunset as the hills surrounding CordeValle illuminate the valley with brilliant golden light.
7. Hotel St. Cecilia
Borrowing from its hometown Austin’s vibe, this hotel has five suites, six bungalows, and three studio rooms — all built in keeping with a Texas farmhouse style but with trendy decor. Inspired by the patron saint of music and poetry, the Hotel St. Cecilia cheekily includes quotes from people like Jack Kerouac and Keith Richards across the building and their website. The small property is extremely secluded behind a number of hedges and trees, giving it the feel of a private and intimate escape for two.
8. Wheatleigh
It may look like a French Chateau but Wheatleigh instead overlooks the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts. With only 19 rooms, Wheatleigh is often called one of the “most unique small hotels in the world.” Inside, every suite is themed in its own unique way, and the deluxe, superior, and “small” (still impressively large) rooms are all incredibly cozy and well-lit from large windows opening up to the grounds. The grounds themselves were designed by world-famous landscape architect William Olmstead, who is best-known for creating Central Park in New York. A stroll around the outside of the hotel, hand-in-hand with a partner, is a great way to spend a slow morning during a romantic weekend.
