Stepping into the lobby of the InterContinental Cleveland (9801 Carnegie Avenue; 216-707-4100; IHG.com/InterContinental/Hotels/Gb/En/Cleveland/Cleha/HotelDetail) I knew that I was in excellent care.

The lobby itself speaks sophisticated comfort with its elegant cherry wood check in desk, walls softly lit by white shaded lamps surrounded by carefully placed glass vases with flowers in a vast entryway.

I wasn’t disappointed by this luxury hotel as it is everything it touts it is.

The Room

I stepped into the spacious room overlooking Cleveland Clinic and felt right at home as I looked around the modern well appointed room with simple décor. The room was bright, mostly white, with accents of light gray with the window dressings and the bed cover folded down at the end of the bed. I felt very calm the moment I stepped into the room.

The room came with a desk and comfortable chairs to sit and read in or work in. I was pleased to find that there were plenty of plugs for me to charge up my phone, plug in my laptop to get to work later and if Super G was with me plug in all of her gadgets too.

The room comes with a large flat screen TV and cable, which is expected.

There is ample closet space and drawers for longer stays, which is probably the point for visitors coming to get treatments at the Clinic. The closet space and the powder room and bathroom located off the short hallway from the door to the room provide a nice buffer from the foot traffic in the main hallway.

I had to turn down the air conditioning in the room as it was a bit too chilly for me, but that was a simple task. The controls were easy to find and use.

The bed was a dream. Every night I laid down I sunk into the plush pillow top and I was fast asleep within moments.

The Bathroom

The bright vanity separated from the shower and toilet is perfect for getting ready in the morning. The lighting is just right for putting on makeup and all of the accessories were right at hand. For a girl with long fine thick hair, one of the biggest pet peeves I have about hotel hairdryers is that they are weak. They just don’t put out a good blast of hot air to make any headway in drying my hair. I was pleased to find the hairdryer was of good quality, strong and easy to quickly unpack and put away. I also liked the fact that the bathroom came with a magnified mirror and plenty of toiletries.

Dinning

The hotel features North Coast Café, a breakfast restaurant that offers a selection of items from menu or buffet that is quite good in a bright cheerful atmosphere. Just getting in early in the morning from a long flight I enjoyed a nice egg white goat cheese and mushroom omelet with a decent cup of coffee.

At night you can enjoy cocktails before and after dinner at Table 45 Restaurant and Bar, which normally I don’t suggest hotel restaurants, especially in convention centers or in this case the Cleveland Clinic, which is one of the United State’s top five hospitals, but Table 45 Restaurant is an exception. The menu offers up a variety of global fare that changes often and it is excellent.

Service

The moment the bell man opened the door to our car to being brought up to my room, I wasn’t concerned that I or any other guest wasn’t going to be treated well and have our needs attended to. That’s just the quality of the service at the InterContinental Cleveland. I was always greeted with a smile.

It doesn’t surprise me that there are the staff who can speak Arabic, Czech, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Turkish to accommodate the international guests who come to stay at the InterContinental Hotel while they or family members receive medical treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.

Location

The InterContinental Cleveland is perfectly located in the heart of Cleveland making it easy to get to any neighborhood you want to go to.
